The Chengdu Kangaroos had the privilege of meeting with GC Suns COO Paul Parmenter in Chengdu today. Part of the discussions related to growing Australian Rules Football in West China as well as promoting Gold Coast tourism and the Chinese fan base for the Suns.
The Suns are due to compete against Port Adelaide in Shanghai in May next year and the entire aussie rules community in China is extremely excited about having an AFL game in Mainland China.
During the meeting Mr Parmenter was able to confirm his commitment to assisting the growth of Australian Rules Football in the region. Unexpectedly, Mr Parmenter also presented a Suns jersey signed by the entire team as well as a match ball.
The Chengdu Kangaroos are currently planning an Auskick Clinic for November 12th in Chengdu just prior to the Australian Consulate’s Savour Australia Week. More news will come shortly on this as well as the potential for a Nine’s match against Chongqing.
